Facebook's pages was a risky move in itself but when the Facebook sales team presented Beacon to me I was like: "now that scares the shit out of me"
According to Mashable Facebook lied to retailers about the fact that they are getting people's permission to publish info about 3rd party websites they are visiting.
It has lost Travelocity and overstock.com as clients in the process and even more problematic has pissed off a lot of loyal facebook users.
I now get unwanted messages appearing on my Facebook when I visit movie sites or purchase movie tickets. Oh yes, I can opt out, but this is 2007 not 1997!
Hopefully a lesson learnt.
